Animation with Qavimator

Supposedly there are two programs that you can use for animation, Qavimator and Poser. QAvimator is a Qt port of Vince Invincible’s avimator, a bvh animation editor, created for use in the 3D metaverse Second Life. The windows version of this program has been updated today, I have not tried out out yet but I have a few friends who use the Linux version and they say it takes some getting used to but it is as powerful as Poser once you get the hang of it, and its free and open source. =]

Making a SL Teeshirt With The Gimp

1. Download a copy of “The Gimp” (Direct Download Linux, Windows, Mac) & click on the operating system that you use & the distribution if you are using Linux/Unix based system or a Mac ..

2. Download the clothing templates found on the Second life website. There are two kinds to choose from. I suggest the Chip Midnight templates, which are better quality, but you might want to try the others first to get the hang of it if you are having problems. (I have provided links to both)

3. Install “The Gimp” and unzip the templates.

4. Open the file CMFF-Master_Template-Upper.psd with Gimp.

Here is a link that shows how to upload and apply the texture that you just created.

Gimp (www.gimp.org) is a great Open Source & also free alternative to Adobe’s Photoshop with very similar layout and features. The differences between Photoshop and Gimp would not even be recognized by most users. (Read more here)
