All the banks in SL have been forced to hold all moneys, so there are people camping out at the ebanks everywhere. This all happened due to a major loss of funds from a bank called Ginko Financial. Im still not sure what happened exactly. In my personal experience I had some funds (although not much) in a bank that went belly up recently called 8 dragons, which was bought out by another bank. Im still trying to see if its possible to get those back. It seems that all banks are not allowing withdrawls because people were frantically pulling all there funds.
posted by Syd Loon on JT World using a blogHUD : [blogHUD permalink]

I found this crazy animation tool rather randomly..its still in beta but it looks promising…Ive had some ideas for Second Life fluid motion for a while but i don’t know how to script well enough yet, but this looks quite promising and its free. If your looking for a functional animation tool, The Shadow Oh tipped me off to the Pandora Hud (Demo) (Final Edition), which i have yet to try but i have heard it is quite popular as well. I almost got a beta test hug from the creator but it didn’t work out. Still working on a rain check, but it doesnt look promising. ^^

- create new points, edit them, and backup without reseting the scripts!!
* Improved Motion algorhythm for more realistic moves and pose changes.
* Many, many bugs squashed. (thank you all for your reports).
- you’re gonna LOVE this demo
* Simplified Script Locking - - Activate User Mode.. or Tour Mode.. with a single button.. - Owner Only.
* Keyboard control options:
- Down arrow = toggle menus on/off
- Page up = move to next point

**** ALPHA - wearable/removeable/rezable object command at each point.. allowing the Avatar to for example:
- go to the kitchen… pick up a glass of wine… cary it to the livingroom… put the glass on the table. Cool yes?
**** ALPHA - Point-paths: follow a series of points to a destination.. allowing for extreemly complex movements with a single button.

Internal workings….
Lot’s of clean up and re-organization inside the code.. reducing lag and makeing future growth and inhancements more supportable.

Limited PRE-RELEASE will be available for persons who are willing to TEST AND REPORT!! any bugs found
Please contact me in-world if you think you will be able to help test this release.

Known issues / bugs with 1.2.8(b) as of: 31/Dec/07
1.) first point in list sometimes reverts to the “sit” animation. Only workaround at this point is to make sure the first point is in a chair 2.) Keyboad key press events sometimes “fire” without being pressed.. particulary ROT_RIGHT..
12/31 removed all key events except Down arrow and Page UP.
3.) It’s been seen “stuck” in user mode (no main menu button) even though the owner was running it sometimes. (workaround = reset scripts)
12/31 re-wrote menu list logic.. should be fixed.. owner always has extra line.. non-owner never does.
4.) Menus display “old” data when adding/changeing point information. (workaround = move to a new point and back again)
12/31 forced update on change of point name.. no menu untill change is made…. should be working now.
5.) Major malfunction when two people try to use the menus at the same time. ( working on it)
12/31 this issue should still exist.. but with lesser effect.. since the owner only change was made.. may have to go to a “one-at-a-time” user system.
6.) hard or soft reset forces save of point zero data when using the SinDemoData file.- - probably the cause of issue #1 above. (solution: backup into the *waypoints file)

Published in The Second Life Herald found here.

A “proper” prosperous capitalistic society with reason and purpose emerges from the burning embers of a historically passionate art and development community. A natural open source economy, is overshadowed by demeaning skyscrapers filled with marketing executives, armed with nondisclosure agreements, scouring the lands for the next branding concept to further mind control marketing schemes with narrow demographics. New laws are created and distributed throughout the land like barbwire fences; with new methods verifying the identity of the “citizens” to make the economy safer for enterprise. The grid buckles from the recent surge of use and chaos ensues.

Am i dreaming…is the machine mind closing in, am I delusional from too many crossed wires and in need of a serious tune up; or is this Neko Cyborg just evolving into some sort of new dream state reality, never before possible in the mind of a machine created by man. Or maybe it was the over clocking of my circuits from hours of building in the sand under the scorching black sun; combined with idle wanderings in The Wastelands. Is the Soma pill a freebie; or is it still being scripted in a lab underneath Nexis Prime?

Dreaming or not, I constantly ponder if drawing a line between the functional capitalistic system and the freedom and individuality of an open source development community is even possible. Will the coming world metropolis along with the pressure of industry hinder the community from freely creating content, or will the two coexist? The looming conglomerate businesses that seem to be moving in and clogging the grid could very well help this humble economy of developers foresee their future and stimulate the economy.

The aristocracy that is “Linden Lab” seems to be struggling to deal with the pressures of a thriving economy as well, from the abolishment of First Land due to land barrons buying it up and selling it for full market prices, to the overpopulated grid and the stress of dealing with residents who feel that they are not being heard. The Lindens seem to be quite overworked, from grid outages to dealing with fraud and the concept of how to manage identities, to how to deal with griefers.

So at the end of the day, when the Linden dollar has risen to the challenge of international markets and fallen to the greed of capitalism, we must ask the questions that are looming. How will we manage this uncontrollable race of capitalism to an imaginary finish line? Is diversity of races and a culture of artists and free thinkers who are on the front lines of thought important to us? Or, are we more interested in forming a solid brand name that is marketable to the masses? Is this world a place for everyone to freely state their opinions and create freely in a limitless environment, or will we let a select few with deep pockets dictate what “brand” of imagination is the finest. At some point we must define some guidelines in between these two extremes; otherwise the free spirited minorities will be driven further and further underground. Once again coming back to the same question. Where do we go from here?
